An avid wildlife enthusiast, Dr SP Yadav is well known for his contribution towards conservation of big cats especially Tiger and Cheetah in India. He served as an officer of the Indian Forest Service for the past 35 years and has successfully led the conservation agenda of Project Tiger, Cheetah, Lion and Elephant while working in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India. He spearheaded the first ever wild to wild, intercontinental, translocation of Cheetah from Africa to India. He held several responsible senior positions in the Government like the Director of Wildlife Institute of India, Member Secretary of Central Zoo Authority and CITES Management Authority of India. Dr Yadav was conferred with the prestigious National Award for Wildlife Conservation by the Government of India and with the first Global Leadership Award in Conservation by the Global Tiger Initiative Council. He has joined IBCA as Interim Head/Director General on 12th march 2024.
